Halloween III Season of the Witch (1982) anthology

Wiki Article

"Witchcraft enters the computer age, and a different terror begins." says the movie's slogan.

As a fan of the Halloween entries, there are those who were not enamored with 1982's the second Halloween movie. One of the reasons for this is that Michael Myers does not seem as the cold-blooded villain he was in the first two movies in the franchise.

Executive producers Carpenter and Hill initiated what was intended to be an yearly anthology of sorts with Halloween III: Season of the Witch, with a new Halloween movie released every year around Halloween. It was an excellent idea; I just wish they had had the chance to expand on it. It was not to be.

Dr. Daniel Challis (Tom Atkins) gets caught up in a strange mystery just before Halloween when an elderly patient in his care is killed while wearing a Halloween mask.

Dr. Challis, accompanied by Ellie, the dead guy's daughter, travels to Santa Mira the location of the Silver Shamrock Company, where she meets up with Stacey Nelkin. Silver Shamrock Company has been able to rake in millions of dollars from the sale of Halloween masks all throughout the U.S.A. as a direct result of the aggressive marketing campaigns that they have run (some of which include catchy jingles).

(The location for Silver Shamrock Plant was a milk factory.)

Conal Cochran, the CEO of Silver Shamrock, is also planning to murder thousands, if not millions, of innocent people. Dr. Challis and Ellie dig further and learn that the CEO, Conal Cochran (Dan O'Herlihy), is asking youngsters to tune in to a special Halloween night show. They should still watch it in costume.

Only a few scenes in Halloween III include the first Halloween episode airing on tv, and none of them have anything to do with Myers, Dr. Loomis, Laurie, or Haddonfield. Despite its variations from the previous two films, Halloween III is a fun watch.

The film isn't without flaw, but it has some memorable sequences. Cochran tries out his strategy on Buddy Kupfer's family, a salesperson granted a special tour of the facility for selling so several masks.

Putting on a Silver Shamrock mask, Little Buddy (Brad Schacter) watches a Halloween-themed television show in a little room. When things take an unexpected turn and end in bloodshed, there is one thing you will never forget. Conal Cochran's history lecture on Halloween's genuine origins will also stay with you.

I admit that I like the Halloween series, even the ones that came after Halloween 3: Season of the Witch and had Michael Myers in them again (Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michel Myers are both solid horror films). Still, I can't help but think about the stories that might have been told if Carpenter and Hill had been able to keep going with their original plan for the series.

Actually, I do not fault people for not adoring Halloween 3: Season of the Witch. Whoever chose to add the number "3" to the film is to blame (leading people to believe it was another sequel to the original).

The success of Halloween III: Season of the Witch, however, makes it tougher for me now updated to accept the staggering bungle of Carpenter's premise.

Tommy Lee Wallace's movie features her.

Dan O'Herlihy, Stacey Nelkin, and Tom Atkins star in the event.
